Introduction
Your website is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It works while you sleep, while you’re in meetings, and while you’re on holiday. But here’s the hard truth — if your website has any of these 10 warning signs, it’s not working for you. It’s working against you.
At Global Technology, we’ve audited hundreds of business websites across India, UAE, and the UK. These are the most common conversion killers we find — and most business owners have no idea they’re losing potential customers because of them.
1. Your Website Takes More Than 3 Seconds to Load
Speed is everything. Research consistently shows that 53% of mobile users abandon a website if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load. Every extra second of load time costs you visitors — and revenue. Slow websites rank lower on Google too.
What causes it: Uncompressed images, too many plugins, poor hosting, no caching.
| 💡 PRO TIP: Test your website speed right now at PageSpeed Insights (search ‘Google PageSpeed Insights’). A score below 70 needs immediate attention. |
2. There’s No Clear Call-to-Action Above the Fold
‘Above the fold’ means what visitors see on your website before they scroll. If your homepage doesn’t immediately tell visitors what to do next — call you, get a quote, buy a product — you’re leaving money on the table. Your CTA should be bold, visible, and specific.
Bad example: ‘Welcome to our website. We offer many services.’
Good example: ‘Get a Free Website Quote in 24 Hours →’
3. Your Website Isn’t Mobile-Friendly
Over 70% of internet traffic in India comes from mobile phones. If your website looks broken, has tiny text, or requires users to zoom in on mobile — they will leave. Google also penalises non-mobile-friendly sites in search rankings.
| 💡 PRO TIP: Test on a real phone right now. Can you read the text, click the buttons, and fill out a form without zooming? If not, this is critical. |
4. Your Last Blog Post or News Update Is from 2021 or Earlier
An outdated blog tells visitors one of two things: you’re no longer in business, or you don’t care about your website. Both perceptions drive them away. It also signals to Google that your site is stale, which hurts your search rankings.
Fix: Publish at least 2 new pieces of content per month. It doesn’t need to be long — 500 to 800 words on a topic your clients care about is enough.
5. Visitors Can’t Find Your Phone Number or WhatsApp in 5 Seconds
Especially in the Indian and Middle East markets, WhatsApp is how people prefer to contact businesses. If your phone number is buried in the footer or on a contact page that requires 3 clicks to find, you’re losing leads. Your number should be visible on every single page.
6. No Trust Signals — No Testimonials, No Client Logos, No Case Studies
Would you buy from a restaurant with no reviews? A new visitor to your website is a stranger evaluating whether to trust you with their money. Client testimonials, project counts (like ‘327+ projects delivered’), recognisable client logos, and case studies are the social proof that converts sceptical visitors into enquiries.
7. Your Homepage Has Generic ‘About Us’ Text That Says Nothing
Phrases like ‘We are a leading provider of quality solutions’ say nothing. They could apply to any company in any industry. Your homepage copy should immediately answer: What do you do? Who do you serve? What makes you different? Why should I trust you?
8. Your Website Has No SSL Certificate (No ‘HTTPS’ in the URL)
An SSL certificate means your website URL starts with ‘https://’ instead of ‘http://’. Without it, browsers display a ‘Not Secure’ warning to visitors, which destroys trust instantly. Google also ranks secure websites higher. Check your URL bar right now.
9. You Have No Contact Form or Your Form Doesn’t Work
This sounds obvious, but we’ve audited websites where the contact form was broken and the business owner had no idea. Test your own contact form right now — submit a test enquiry and see if you receive it. Broken forms are completely invisible lead black holes.
10. Your Website Has No Analytics — You Don’t Know Who’s Visiting
If you don’t have Google Analytics 4 installed, you’re flying blind. You don’t know how many people visit, which pages they look at, where they come from, or what they do before leaving. Analytics is free and takes 30 minutes to set up. It gives you the data to make smart decisions.
How Many of These Apply to Your Website?
If you identified 3 or more of these issues on your website, it’s time for a professional audit. At Global Technology, we offer free website audits to help you understand exactly what’s holding your site back — and what it would take to fix it.
